Divorce, in the most general sense, is the legal end of a marriage which legally started. What makes the divorce significant within the social science literature is that is related to institution of family which constitutes the core of social structure. In many societies, family is seen as the most important agent of socialization that ensures continuation of generations and conveys all the basic values of social life as an institution. It ensures regularity of social life through its attributed functions. In this regard, ensuring the continuation of family as an institution plays a vital role in terms of fulfilling these basic functions.
