Muscle hypertrophy is a fundamental physiological adaptation at the core of resistance training aimed at both aesthetic and performance goals. This concept, which has been studied extensively in sports science for many years, is closely related to variables such as the number of sets, repetition range, load intensity, tempo, and rest period in training planning. However, rest duration between sets, one of the most important factors directly affecting muscle growth, remains a controversial topic in the literature. Proper adjustment of this parameter determines the balance of mechanical and metabolic stimulation of the muscle and ultimately affects the magnitude of the hypertrophic response (Schoenfeld, 2010).
