Societies are facing significant challenges due to aging populations. The combination of increasing life expectancy and declining fertility rates has led to a steadily growing population of older adults worldwide. This demographic shift is one of the most significant global transitions of the 21st century and is associated with an increase in the prevalence of chronic conditions, multimorbidity, and functional loss, which in turn have generated ever-increasing demands on health care systems, social support services, and economic resources. In particular, as public health and socioeconomic issues come to the forefront, the extension of life expectancycoupled with continuous improvements in living standardsrequires new arrangements to be planned so that the purpose of life is not merely to extend survival time, but to sustain the physical, mental, and social capacities that enable well-being, independence, and quality of life (Puche, 2026).
