In recent years, sports sciences have undergone a significant transformation driven by the influence of digital technologies, big data, and artificial intelligence applications. The traditional structure of sports, which was largely based on observation and experience, has increasingly been replaced by data-driven analyses and scientific decision-making processes. At the core of this transformation lies the ability to quantify sports performance and systematically analyze the data obtained. Developments in the field of performance analysis, in particular, have enabled coaches and sports scientists to make more objective and evidence-based decisions (O’Donoghue, 2009).
